Welcome

As you know, Great Crosby Catholic Primary School has been at the forefront of providing Catholic education for the children of Crosby for over 150 years. We are passionate about ensuring that all our children achieve the best opportunities in life, rooted in Gospel values and fulfilling our mission; ‘that they may have life and have it to the full’.

We have always celebrated strong relationships with our fellow Catholic schools, parishes and local community, supported by the Archdiocese. We are constantly looking forwards to the future with a means to better equip our children for their lifelong journey.

The world of education is constantly evolving. The new proposed education reforms will bring about further changes. That is why the government and the Archdiocese have both made it clear that they expect all schools to work in collaboration with other schools and become part of a trust.

Recently the Catholic Archbishop of Liverpool, John Sherrington, has set out his vision for Catholic education for the next 50 years to ensure that Catholic schools are the best available to our children. As part of this vision, the Archdiocese is forming three trusts across Liverpool Archdiocese and we are happy to say that we will be joining the Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust, an already established multi academy trust within Sefton and beyond.

Part of the Archdiocesan strategy involves the creation of school families, or educational constellations, with each school as a star maintaining its own unique special character and brightness.

We know that GCCPS has much to contribute to the Church’s educational mission and we are proud of the relationships we have with families and our local community. We have much to give, and in joining an academy trust we have a much more effective way of doing this whilst keeping our own unique identity.

We recognise Pope Leo’s message to the Church as he asks Catholics to be part of drawing new maps of hope. We know that schools can be beacons of hope in a troubled world but that we can only achieve this more effectively when we are part of a larger group. We look forward to working with Pope Francis Multi Academy Trust, our parish and our school families in transmitting our faith journey together.

As a first step, we are starting what is known as the due diligence process. As part of this we want to understand what parents’ and carers’ views are on this change. We would value your thoughts, comments and questions to help inform the due diligence process.

That is why we have created this special microsite to enable everyone from staff, parents/carers, grandparents, neighbours, parishioners and local educationalists – in fact, anyone with an interest in our school to give their views.

So please do read the content of this site and share your views via the link on the HAVE YOUR SAY page. We look forward to hearing from you!

As Pope Francis said ‘Unity happens when we walk together’.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Louise Morton
